Sterling Silver Orca Ring
Product Type: Jewelry
Norman Seaweed was born in Alert Bay, a small fishing village off the northeastern coast of Vancouver Island. This area is representative of the Kwagiulth Nation, a tribe that inhabits mainly the southern region of the province. His mothers family is from the Village Island and his fathers family is from Turnour Island. Norman was trained in jewelry carving by Lloyd Wadhams in 1978. He was always interested in drawing, then moved into wood carving and from there, into silver and gold. Norman's brothers Alfred, Paddy, and Rodney are all silver carvers.
The Killer Whale, revered as the guardian of the sea, represents family, communication, and longevity. It is known for safeguarding travelers and leading them back home. Orcas, living and migrating in pods, embody a profound sense of community and harmony.
Carved on heavy gauge sterling silver.
