Dream Catchers/Sun Catchers

In many Native North American tribes, a dream catcher is a handcrafted willow hoop intricately woven into a web or net, often adorned with feathers and beads. Traditionally hung over cradles as a form of protection, they serve as a symbolic shield, guarding against harm. Dream catchers are cherished as a unifying emblem among numerous Indigenous cultures and tribes and are widely recognized as a proud expression of Native American identity. Yet, many Native Americans feel that dream catchers have been inappropriately appropriated and exploited by non-Native individuals. At the Pentlatch Gallery, we proudly offer only authentic Indigenous dream catchers, thoughtfully designed and skillfully created by Carrie Walker of the Hagwilget Wet'suwet'en Nation.
