Product Type:
Clifford George was born on the West Coast in August 1962 and raised in Tofino and Ucluelet, B.C.
"Early inspiration struck me in elementary school after watching a biography of Emily Carr, who painted around Nootka Sound and the West Coast. My art began with drawings, and by the late '80s, I had moved on to original paintings. In 1996, I delved into cedar carving, creating plaques, paddles, and masks. Eventually, I progressed to totem poles, crafting representations of Bears, Eagles, Ravens, ranging from 4 feet to 20 feet in height. One of my 20-foot totem poles made its way to Amsterdam.
To all who have purchased my work, I extend my heartfelt thanks."
An exquisitely carved yellow cedar depiction of a Gray Whale and its calf, measuring 11” by 5 1/4", was crafted by Clifford George in 2011.
