About the Authors:

Robert “Lucky” Budd is a Canadian author, oral historian, and radio host, best known for his books based on the stories of British Columbia pioneers and his collaborations with artist Roy Henry Vickers.

Roy Henry Vickers, CM OBC (born June 1946 in Laxgalts’ap, now Greenville, British Columbia) is a Grammy Award–nominated Canadian First Nations artist who owns and operates a gallery in Tofino, British Columbia. Born on the Nass River and raised in Kitkatla, Hazelton, and Victoria, B.C., Vickers has Tsimshian, Haida, and Heiltsuk ancestry through his father, and English heritage through his mother, who was adopted into the Eagle clan at Kitkatla in the 1940s. His grandfather was a Kitkatla canoe carver. His distinctive work blends elements of traditional Pacific Northwest First Nations art with his own unique style, reflecting his rich mixed heritage.
