Killer Whale

Dora Edwards, born in 1985 on Kuper Island (Penelakut), started carving at 14 under the guidance of her parents, Connie Edwards and Larry James, both celebrated Coastal Salish artists. Influenced by their style and inspired by fellow carver Herman Peter, she developed her own approach. Her work often includes designs highlighted with an abalone eye, honoring her family’s tradition while incorporating the classic Haida carving style to help preserve this heritage for future generations.
