Wild Man
Sampson Robertson, a revered member of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nation who passed away in 2014, was celebrated as an artist, teacher, and mentor within his community, especially to his niece and brother Alfred. His legacy continues through Sarah, who preserves her uncle's work and traditions, and Alfred Robertson, who also hails from Kingcome Inlet—a small island located off the northwest coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
The Wild Man Red Cedar Mask, measuring 9" x 7" and dated 1986, is a remarkable piece of indigenous artistry.
