About the Authors:

Robert “Lucky” Budd is a Canadian author, oral historian, and radio host, best known for his books based on the stories of British Columbia pioneers and his collaborations with Roy Henry Vickers.

Roy Henry Vickers, CM OBC (born June 1946 in Laxgalts’ap, now Greenville, British Columbia) is a Grammy-nominated Canadian First Nations artist who owns and operates a gallery in Tofino, British Columbia. Born on the Nass River and raised in Kitkatla, Hazelton, and Victoria, B.C., Vickers is of Tsimshian, Haida, and Heiltsuk heritage on his father’s side, and English ancestry on his mother’s, who was adopted into the Eagle clan at Kitkatla in the 1940s. His grandfather was a Kitkatla canoe carver. Vickers’ work reflects his blended heritage, incorporating traditional Pacific Northwest First Nations art elements while remaining uniquely his own.
