Walter Davidson
Born in Masset, British Columbia, the largest town on Haida Gwaii, Walter Davidson descends from the Eagle Clan through his mother's lineage, with the Frog as his secondary crest figure, a heritage also from his mother. He is the nephew of the esteemed Haida artists Reg and Robert Davidson, and the notable Edenshaw family.
Walter embarked on his carving journey in 1999, largely self-taught. That same year, he undertook a three-month mentorship with Dwayne Simeon, a master carver who has guided many new-generation artists since 1974. It was during this mentorship that Walter honed his skills in jewelry design and engraving.
