Spirit Man Mask

Russell (Floyd) Tate is from the Ditidaht First Nation on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. He started carving in 2004, inspired by artists like Art Thompson and those featured on the show "Ravens and Eagles." Mostly self-taught, he developed his wood carving skills, specializing in masks and paddles. Over time, his work has grown to include small poles, miniatures, and regalia. He has collaborated with artists like Ben David and Cecil Dawson on various projects.
