George Aleck, born in 1956, is a Coast Salish from Duncan, BC, on Vancouver Island. He attributes his skills to his uncle, William (Willie) Good of the Snuneymuxw Nation, who was his mentor and teacher. Originating from a large family on Kuper Island, BC, he also honed his craft by observing other family members and tribe members engage in art during his youth. His profound passion for carving has made his work widely collected.
